I noticed today that my brights only turn on when I pull the light lever back towards me. When I push it forward to leave the brights on they don't come on at all.
Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?
That's my guess also. It's best to replace it now before it gets bad enough and your headlights go off like mine did before I replaced it. Kind of scary at night when it does that!
The mulitfunction switch is the turn signal lever. It controls the headlights, turn signals, and wipers. To replace it you have to remove the ignition cylinder, and steering collum shrould.
That's normal in our Rangers at least. The headlights have to be on to lock on the brights. The brief turn them on and off by pulling it towards you is the "flash to pass" function.
It allows you to flash your high beams without having your headlights on and allows you to have the low beams and flash the high beams when you headlights are on.
