Currently I have a 8" FabTech lift with 37" Nitto's. I am wanting to go to 44's. I am considering the 3" drop down brackets and I beleive FAbTech is now offering a 3" drop down bracket for the rear also. Anybody done this? I do ALOT of highway towing miles and need this truck dependable. If anyone has lifted 10"-12", what steering issues did you have to deal with or any other issues? Thanks, Dave Warden
Absolutly. The bad thing is the lowest gear set for the ford axle is a 5:13 I beleive. Before I had a truck with 44's and it was geared 5:89 / 5:87 with a detroit locker in the rear. I ran about 500 plus hp and could SMOKE the 44's and chirp when I went into second !!! Dave
Randys Ring n Pinion has 5.38s for the Ford SD. I got a set for mine. I am running 38s. Same 8" Fabtech lift as you have, dual shocks up front. I added 2 extra inches in the rear (custom blocks) and custom shackles up front for 2 more inches, worked out well. I had to buy a 16" drop hitch to get my boat trailer to tow level.
Pulling the race boat isn't bad. The trailer has 16" tires and it sits high. For other stuff, the race trailer, bike trailer, etc. I have to use the drop hitch. Dave
10"-12", you madman. . . I love it. I'm sure you've already considered the driveshafts. You will most certainly need x-over steering, in conjuction with a lower trac-bar bracket that goes above the springs, and with 44"s I would highly recommend a hydraulic ram assist setup as well. The Ford steering box isn't the toughest and those tires would almost certainly kill it in no time. The last thing I would suggest is a set of powersteps, to get in to that badboy. Take a look at the Dynatrac kit, it has most everything you would need to keep from blowing your front-end apart with those big meats. http://www.dynatrac.com/products_fordsuperdutycombokit.html
