A nice duffel bag for back and forth from home to school. Regular luggage takes up too much space in a dorm room or car trunk.

I got a ton of gas cards when I graduated, and with today's prices it'll come in handy....If he's allowed a car on campus. Another good one is find a restaurant in the college town and get gift cards for there. I always liked being able to get outta the dining hall once ina while.

"College Girls Gone Wild." Don't worry, I'm sure someone will offer her money for something.

Some great ideas. I thought the desk chair idea was great, I recall my desk chair at the dorm was awful. I liked all of Torque1st's ones up above me here.

If the young man is thinking of going to a place in a cold climate for school I suggest an electric blanket. Some morning when he wakes up and finds the passed out room mate has flung open the window(s) prior to collapsing on the futon and throwing up all over himself, he'll be happy to be warm as the room-mate borders on hypothermia.

or a really good set of dictionary and thesaurus (There will be times when the internet and computer are not available and he'll have to write that short five page paper by hand and he'll need to know how to spell things and/or put things in other terms.)

I second the water filter idea.... Everyone had "britta pitchers" small enough to fit in a dorm sized fridge...... cold water was worth gold when youre wasted at 3am...

ha, IF it were cold in Texas, and IF I had an electric blanket, I'd never go to class!

i'm bringing back this one from the dead since its almost graduation (like 2 days for me). I"m kinda excited to see what i'm going to get. Yeah, allready got the minifridge and microwave ready for moving out, i think gas cards would be great, cash too.
What has everyone wound up getting people? Just out of curiosity, my grad party isnt for like 11 more days so i want to know what to ask for
