Hi all I am in Australia and trying to get power steering for 1978 F100, as the better half has a crook shoulder and if she has to drive the F100 it will be hard for her, it is an ex ambulance so has extra wieght goes just under 2 ton. Is there any where in USA I can purchase and have shipped to OZ as it seems none over her.
Cheers David
G'day David
I don't think you will get much joy out of the US as all their gear mounts on the wrong side of the vehicle. There are it seems a few people out there who, with a little Aussie engineering skill have grafted other power steering boxes onto their F100's.
I am looking at converting my 79 4x2 in the next couple of month's with a locally supplied kit. Local is Perth and I belive I still have to shorten my steering column by about 2"
Just an idea here gents, the steering gearbox on a 2 wheel drive attaches to the inside of the frame whereas the steering box on a 4 wheel drive mounts on the outside of the frame. It might be possible to graft a mount for the inside of the right frame rail using a left side 4 wheel drive power steering gearbox. Also, there are a number of folks in AU. that have converted American spec. '78-'79 Broncos to right hand drive. I don't know how they are making the steering conversion but you need to tap into their experience on this. Hope this helps.

I haven't checked it out personally, but was told John King sells a power steering conversion kit for $1600.... I think he is located on the hume highway
