Installed a 2” leveling kit on my 4x4 SCREW. Drove it for a week before I was able to get it aligned. Now I have a whining sound that I think is coming from the tires. Do you think noise is caused from the tires wearing too long with out an alignment? I still have the stock tires that came with the truck. Moving to 33’s later. Also, does anyone know what they do to correct the positive camber angle produced from a leveling kit? Do they use some kind of spacers? It still looks like I still have about a half of degree of positive camber; I haven’t taken back to the dealer yet. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
these kits allow the toe in to come in, if your sure its the tires making the noise, i would bet money its just the toe in. You see, as the wheels drop down, (or the frame/body goes upward) the ends of the rack & pinion shafts go downward which pulls the tires in at the front. All the posts i've seen here, practically everyone said only the toe in was affected. I had autospring 1 1/2 installed in Jan. and also when i took it in, they said only the toe in had to be set. (off by about 1/2") But mine is a 4 x 2. I would have them re-check it. Does it do this noise all the time or just while turning? Maybe a 4 x 4 expert can also help you out.....paul
It makes the noise all of the time. The noise kind of sounds like I have mud grips on, but a higher pitch. I think I'll have the tires rotated and balanced and go talk to a 4x4 shop. Thanks for your reply Paul.
can you tell that the tires wore funny by looking at them? i've got the same kit and got my aligned the next day.only thing i hear now is a knock or rattle since i installed it.
No, I really tell just by looking at them. Until I had it aligned, I had some weird noises and it was kind of bouncy in the front. I did get the tires rotated and balanced and it is not as loud now. I think that's because of the rotation. Harder to hear the noise when the tires are on the rear.
