Is this a good deal?

I bought a 2001 SC 5.4, leather, last august with 125,000 for $12,500. great truck, needed ball joints and changed the trans oil, etc. I would not be afraid of it. Lot of trucks on the market in Illinois last summer with the dealer discounts. I bought this from private for about $3000 less than asking price for the area.

That is a great great deal. In 2005 I bought a 97 s'cab 4.6 4x4, with 168K for $10K I would of gladly paid that for those miles and the 5.4 and the s'rew but here in South Carolina it is nearly impossible to find a truck like that for that kind of price.
As far as stuff to check for, make sure the 4x4 system works properly, if nothing is leaking and it operates/performs correctly your pretty much good to go. These are extreeemley solid trucks. Good Luck. I would buy it.

I lived in Goose Creek, SC for a few years. Charleston is a nice town.
I'm scared everytime I buy a used vehicle. You are always taking a chance.
Does this truck have any modifications or is it completely stock?
I just recently bought a 99 supercab 4x4 60k with a Leer camper top everything else stock - paid $13k. I kept looking around until I found something with low miles. It seems 4x4 truck owners tend to hold on to their trucks longer than other vehicle owners.

Not bad at all. I'd go for it.
In 2005 I bought a '98 F150 4X4 O/R package XLT 4.6L w/123,000 on the chassis but had a new crate motor installed at 103,000. Previous owner used a power tuner but didn't use the recommend settings and paid the consequences quite heavily. Since I've had it all I've done is replaced uppler/lower ball joints and idler arms. Had the seller get a tranny flush and new water pump before I bought it. Got a steal I think for $8,000.

I agree with 99 Ford - it scares me everytime that I buy a used one, but it's all I can afford. This truck that I'm looking at looks original, but I saw something last night that concerned me - it looked like a chunk of bondo was chipped out above the tail light and painted over, so that threw up a flag. Yeah, TCATZ, I'd say that you got a really good deal.

There is a neighbor of mine that sells trucks/cars part time that has a 02 Ford Supercrew Lariat with a 5.4. It has 111k miles on it, drives great and is in excellant shape. It also sports a fiberglass cover over the bed that tilts up and has a 6 cd changer. It's really a nice truck that I would love to have but alas...can't afford it.
He's only asking 10,000 for it.
