Does anyone have a solution to the problem. My truck is an 04 4x4. The truck does not vibrate before or after, just at 45. I know there are threads out there, but has anyone found a solution? carrier bearing, u joints, something else? Thanks guys for all the help.
My '05 cc/fx4 had the same thing. After re-indexing and balancing tires it was still there. Long story short...the driveshaft was bad "out of round" they said. A few days later new shaft and vibration gone bye bye.
Check your tires. If you ahve a drive shaft thats out of whack a bit, it will vibrate across the board, not just at 45. If it makes you feel any better, on certain roads, my 05 does it, and my 96 dodge did it at 45mph all the time. Dont know what causes it, its got to do with physics somewhere though im sure.
vibrations at specific speeds and not at other speeds is a tell tale signyou tires need to be balanced and even if the tires balance out OK you might have a bent wheel or one tire might be bad you could try to rotate them if there is a bad tire you wont feel it as much on the rear axle... hope that helps

Not always true. The vibration was not across the board. 40-50mph was my target range. Still have the same tires and wheels I did when I drove it off the lot, I know this because I marked them just to see if they did reindex and balance them and they did. Did not fix the problem...Next up yep. the drive shaft. I also marked that and when I got it back it was not the same one and yes the vibration was gone and is to this day.
But what was not told is where the vibration was felt..ie. in the seat, steering wheel???? Mine was a center console, and seat vibration, not wheel or pedal.
Had a bad vibration on a firetruck and that turned out to be a broken suspension piece. And on something that big you knew something was not right. lol That had all the signs of a wheel/tire problem, even went as far as to replace all tires on engine.
Oh...no. the vibration i was talking about was the kind that shakes the whole truck...almost like a resonance thing. And it only does it every now and then. Like if you are at the right speed, and start it shaking, like hit the right road coniditons.....its wierd. Always attributed it to the weight/moving parts on teh truck, since i havent ridden in one that didnt do it now and again.
The front tires on the truck don't look too good. I have never seen tires wear like this before. The truck is an 04 Harley. The truck has goodyear AT's. I am going to replace the shocks next week and then balance and rotate the tires. The rear tires look pretty good, they wore pretty even. Also, the alignment is very good. I can let go of the wheel and it won't move for a couple of miles. The steering wheel shakes if that helps. thanks guys for all the help.
I would look at in detail the front suspension. That is exactly what our truck did, now we are talking about a tiller fire truck and a full size pick-up but the symptoms were the same. The truck would ride nice then out of no where felt like the whole thing was going to come apart. Turned out to be a broken shackle.
That is if the new tires don't solve the problem .
I Have A 2005 That Vibrates 45 To 55 Mph Had Every Thing Checked At The Dealer @5000 Miles And They Said That It Was Tires . At 34000 Miles I Installed 20" Ford Wheels And Tires That Had Less Than 100 Mileson Them, Had The Tires Balanced. The Truck Still Vibrates And If I Put It In Nuetral And Let The Rmps Go Down It Still Has The Vibration Just Around 45 To 55 Mph . Has Anyone Had This Problem?
Thanks For The Info. When I Put The 20" Tires/wheels I Felt The "death Wobble" When I Hit A Gap In The Road. Good Thing The Tires And Wheels Are Bolth From Ford Now Thay Have Another Thing To Look At , But This Is A Differnt Vibration . I Told Ford That Maybe It Was Driveshaft Problem But Ford Said I Was Crazy. When I First Felt The Vibration It Had 5000 Miles Or Less And To Soon For A U Jiont I Think.
