Ok, so my Edge Evo tuner will display the numerical value of my battery charge.
What is the minimum voltage I need for the engine to turn over? I'd like to know, so that if I'm running the radio for awhile or have my laptop plugged into one of those lighter socket inverters, while the engine is off...I can monitor my voltage and make sure I don't drain my batt. too low.
you need 11 volts to crank it over but you also need the amps. what size battery do you have? how many amp hours? how many reserve? the truck itself can display the voltage thru the odometer if you know how to activate it.
I'm not sure of my battery specifics because I haven't had to actually pull it out and read it....truck is still fairly new. However, it is the one you get with the towing package, if that helps any.
Most likely you have a Group 65 battery that's some where in the 650 CCA range.
The oems are good batterys, and for your climate it will do alright.
For what it's worth, the battery monitor will shut down the radio and such before the battery gets too low. It won't disconnect any thing that's hooked up to the cigarette lighter, but I really doubt that your labtop would kill the battery inside a day.
My truck does it all the time...it's really annoying sometimes as I have a hard time of getting any more than 20 mins of radio time.
