I think I know what I want out of my 351 now!! A 427 LOL! Not gonna hppen anytime soon, but I plan to stroke it when it's no longer my daily driver. For now I just want more power out of my stock bore and stroke. I love headers so I will either get Gibson(what I want) or some real cheap off brand(better than stock). I want some sort of air intake, some sort of electric fan system, and eventually MAF but I have an E4OD and I need to find out what computers to rip out of a junk 96 truck.
I would like to make my truck rev like the newer trucks, you know a higher peak torque and horse power(to make the numbers look better), but still have all kinds of torque and horse power through the RPM range. My 351 seems to be a low end monster and I would like to still have low end power, but I want some BIG mid range and mild top end. I might be asking for to much here, I don't know. I would like to have peak torque some where in the 3500-4000 RPM range, and peak torque around 4000-5000 range. well maybe a little over 5000. I still want a nice torque curve and decent low end torque.
Is this possible, and if so how do I do it and still have decent fuel economy?

Just pay attention to the bottom two paragraphs. i put the stuff on the top so you didn't just suggest that stuff over again, or at least verify that I already plan on it.
since your still SD, and stroking isnt going to happen for awhile. look into some Gt40 or edelbrock heads or even some trick flow heads. going aluminum will alow for higher compression so 9.5-1 is doable. run comp cam 35-255-5 or have a custom ground cam made with a lobe seperation of 114* no less. go with a good intake. either the tubular gt40 or the trick flow intake. both of these will still work well if you later decide to stroke the motor. get the BBK 56mm throttle body and i think you would have yourself a pretty good combo to start with. you will get better mileage with a motor that builds torque down low mainly because it doesnt work so hard to move ya
Thanks KemicalBurns! Is that Comp Cam basically an RV cam? Because I already have one of those, and I don't think it's all that great. The Comp Cam website didn't have the info on it other than it was for a efi 351 SD setup. I don't even know what lobe seperation is by the way. I was looking through my Summit catalog and couldn't find the lobe seperation. It only has lift and duration and something else I can't remember right nw.

i cant say if its an rv type cam or not. not running one yet but the guys that are like it. pretty much any cam with the lobe seperation at 114* can be used. just each one may build power higher or lower in the rpm range. Summit doesnt do to well on showing this spec on the site. so see if you can go to the manufacturers website
