I am about to have my 390 rebuilt for my 68 F100 and would like some advice on a few things. First, should I stick with the stock 2bbl or go with a 4bbl. I am not looking to race this truck, only normal driving, ok maybe an occasional street race, but normal mostly. Regardless of which one is recommended, which cam would be best for this engine to give it a good sound but not a rough idle. Please tell me the max lift if you have a cam recommendation. Thanks.

sounds like sticking with the 2 barrel might be just fine for you. How about the Crane 343941 cam-272/284 duration ( 216/228 @ 050 ) and .533/.563 lift. 112 LDA makes for a nice and smooth idle. DF

I have a friend with that very cam in it and it has a very healthy sound to it. make sure you get a good exhaust on there like some Flowmasters or something so you can hear it. I personally would go for a small 4 barrel, like a 600cfm Edelbrock with an electric choke.
