i am about to buy a truck 1976 ford f-250 but the axles codes and other codes are missing only the metal tag is left and it has F25MKB79881 . the only things i can find out is that its 4x2 and made during 1976 in KCM . Any other help would be great. I assume it has the D60 rear but i have not seen the truck and its a far drive so any specifics you can dig up would be great.
Mike
You could see if you can get a build sheet on the truck but those take a while to get. You can't tell much from a VIN, but it does show: 8 Cyl, 390ci, 4bbl
I just used the VIN decoder in the FAQ section.

Thanks Eric and Dennis I have requested a build sheet but my sheet for my 75 took 8 weeks to get. By that time this deal may no longer be there. I did find out its a custom but the seller is unsure if it has PS and PB but it does have shoulder belts which i have never seen before in a 76 truck.
Are there holes in the bed or are those just rust spots? Reason I ask is that I have seen some beds that were rusted out from underneath and showed little damage on top but a few holes.
those rust spots bother me also. I am not sure if they are holes or just surface rust. the truck did have a camper in it for over 10+ years . The tail gate does have rust holes but i hope the bed is ok.
I am going out there on wed. i will check it all out. I may be able to just deal with the minor rust issues if they are small. the truck just needs to last me for the next 9 months with minor repair work. for 500.00 i guess i can't be to picky.
