I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...
My back seat use to unfold with one finger ease, now I cannot get it undone and even my hubby has a hard time and he is not small. Anyway I took it in today to have the oil change/ tires rotated and to have them look at the seat. They said they fixed it and when I got home it still sticks and I can't budge it, my hubby can and said it was a little easier. I should call and complain but they did it for free, so I can't complain too much. Looking at it I don't really see how they can fix it as I cannot see why it sticks(they lubed it). I was thinking maybe I could get some hig end grease(any suggestions would be great) and lube the crap out of it. I looked at the prong but it doesn't look bent, we use it but not that often and its no good to me if I cannot get it undone, I am not weak by any means, I can lift a 100lb dog no problem. The back of the seat works fine. Anyway just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they corrected it what they did.
Thanks either way and have a great day. Other than that I love my escape.
For starters what year is your Escape ? If its still under warrantee they should repair or replace it until you are happy with it ............... as far as a lube try some WD-40 there may be some dirt causing this problem
Thanks for the reply. It is a 2002 so its past the 3yr warrantee but I do have the extended warrantee and I don't thinks its one of the things covered. I love wd-40 but thought I'd try something a little more heavy duty in hopes it would last longer if it helps. There doesn't seem to be any dirt on the metal clip or where it clips into, it doesn't look bent either but I know it being off by a little can change how it works. I guess for now since we are leaving for our seasonal jobs soon up north we will lube her up and work the seat hear and there. If I have to I will get an estimate on the cost to fix it although they made it sound like nothing was really wrong and was from infrequent use, we do use it but I guess not all that often; but it should still work easier than it does.
Thanks again.
