This is a good read on sound deadeners. The guy did a few tests on them, and basicly found out that dynamats overpriced, and doesnt work as well as the cheaper "second skin" deadener...
If you're going to be cheap, and want to use an asphalt type deadener (like E-Dead), DONT DO IT. RAAMmat BXT is a cheap butyl product, which is only a LITTLE more expensive then e-dead... And, you dont get a stinky car/truck during the summer, and theres less risk of it falling, or cracking in extream tempatures.
Peel and Seal is the cheapest stuff you can get, and have OK results
Try using ice and water shield. The same thing that roofers put on the eaves of your house before applying shingles. I used it in my Toyota Tercel to keep the sub in the trunk from vibrating all the body panels. It works just a well as the audio products and a LOT cheaper.
Ice and Water Shield is basically the same thing as Peel n Seel. I used this in my Bronco II and to tell you the truth, there's no smell that I had in my truck. I used it for the big areas because it's cheaper. I used it on the floor and rear panels and it really helped out getting the sound down from vibrations. Then I used some stuff off ebay to do the doors and the rear panels again (mainly wheel wells and firewall). The difference is more than noticeable, it's quite amazing on how much noise is blocked out.
But I do agree that Dynamat is overpriced, the pack that you buy for almost $300 from the audio retailers only cost them around $135.
Damplifier. I have Dynamat Xtreme in my other car. Both work just as good as the other. Damplifier edges out Dynamat for my preference because of the cost difference.

Not sure which you thought was better, Ice and Water or the stuff on Ebay? Thanks in advance.
