jumping a 6v
Hey everybody!
Just got my 38 1/2 ton out of cold storage. I had kept the batt. chrgd all winter at home so that it was ready but when I put it in nothing happened. Must need a new battery. My question is, when I jumped it with my 12v van, does that spike do damage to things, like gauges and such?? It started after getting the gas up there and ran OK coming home. Now I need the new batt. and plugs and ............!!!
Thanks for any help and advice!~JH~

Jumping the old truck with a 12 volt vehicle will not hurt it. Just make sure you get on with it and do not leave the jumper cables on there for a very long time.
Also make sure to give the starter a little rest and try to crank it in 10 second bursts, and then wait 10 seconds. That is true for even a 12 volt vehicle, so the starter will not overheat.
