1990 aod no upshift

1990 aod no upshift
I have a 1990 f150 4x4 with a 302 EFI, AOD transmission
well i just recently purchased this truck and i just changed the transmission fluid and in the pan was weird shaped plastic thing with a o-ring on it, well my friend and i tried to check if it came from any of the valves. we then checked them by lightly depressing each valve if we couldnt see it thinking this came from these ports. no valves were missing so i then went to NAPA and asked him what this was and he stated it was a Transmission tube plug used during assembly before the transmission was installed so debris could not fall in, WHEW!. well after hearing this we then installed the filter and before we installed the pan my friend said to put Lucas transmission fix to the pan before installation and i did. then i added fluid 4.3 quarts of fluid + 1 lucas transmssion fix. Now heres my problem i have no upshift only (R) 1st in (OD), (D), (1) I then thought the filter was plugged so i droped the pan and changed filter and fluid minus the lucas and still no upshift what could be the problem?

so you've only got reverse and first?
Did this happen before the tranny rework?
check your connections first, so that the tranny knows when to shift. If all your electric conections are good and you have vacuum(if applicable) then I'd say your selenoids are out. Could have gotten junked up with something, but I'd check those next. still no upshift and it could be rebuild time.
