Reverse Light
i cant get my reverse lights working. on top of the tranny there is a red plug with two prongs. it is under the plate for the shifter. there is nothing attached to it. is this the plug? how do i wire it new, i cant find mine?

use an ohm meter to check across the two prongs when trans is in neutral or a forward gear and then when in reverse. I'm not familiar with the manual trans setup but if you have found the backup light switch then it should be open until you go to reverse and then the switch will close. I would still search and try to find the wiring diagram for your truck but if you can't then you can just use the switch to send power to the backup light.

My '73 F100 2wd 4spd (T18) has the back up light switch screwed into the top of the transmission just rear of the shifter. I also have no wiring to it - it's on the 'to do' list. From looking at other pickups, there is a small harness that goes from the trans switch to a two plug connector near the master cylinder. Not sure were it goes from there.
