Ok, if in 1969 when picking up your new F100, you wanted a tachaometer, what would have been available?? What was an option that a dealer would have used?? I know they had hood mounted tachs availble over the counter, used on cars. Anything else from Ford??
I believe there were a few tachometer kits available from "Rotunda" I believe other than the hood mounted type, there was column mounted ones.[BR]

I realize that there were no factory optional tach, only over the counter. But over the counter doesn't mean, Sun or such. Ford had tachs available over the counter. I am familiar with them for cars, just wanted to know if anyone ever saw one on a truck, knew of one etc??
PP, in 69 trucks were looked at very differently that they are today. It was early mid 70s before the truck appeal started taking shape. Any aftermarket part that Ford had would first have been for the car and then the truck.
So I think the answer to your question could very well be no.

I have a 1969 Ford truck pamplet like you would get in the dealership, and it has no mention of a tach. I would like to see what you say about an optional tach in 1967.
In 1969..Sun or the Super Sun were the Tachs to have. Had one in my runner bak then. Worked great... Have one in my 77 F150........still works great...

The option list is posted on my site, but I'm not sure where this thread is going exactly. What are you trying to determine or accomplish? I assume you don't have a tachometer in your truck now and wish to have one which would be "correct" to your vehicle. Like it or not whatever you add now won't be original. Dealers added these so called "aftermarket" items to new vehicles all the time (I disagree with Jowilker's use of the term "aftermarket" to describe Rotunda items). I'd say your best option would be to look for a correct rotunda model because I speculate that is all that is or was ever available for this particular option.

That is exactly what I want to do. I then want to know " what tach" would be correct for 1969. I have not found thast out yet, true. I am well aware of originality, I only want something that would be correct. My expertise is with Mustangs, not trucks.
