Well guys, hope this makes you laugh, it almost made me cry. After all the info you guys have given on my electrical problem with my '66 CCLB I went to test things the way William suggested and it was a good thing too. It seems the plug coming out of the steering collumn was not completely connected. After sticking my hands in there looking for loose wires and such, using my tester light and thinking of taking it to a shop to get it fixed, it was all just a plug! My truck has been sitting for about 18 months because of this. Where's my dunce cap at!!!

Hey your not alone. I changed out the shift collar on my truck and put the turn signal wires back through. I spent 1 1/2 weeks of my free time trying to figure out why the turn signals would no longer work. Turns out that cast collar has a sharp enough edge to slice through a turn signal wire. Found the wire after pulling everything apart again.
Just remember you didn't have to pay a $75 diagnostic fee to have your truck hooked to a computer to fix it. It may be frustrating but we can fix almost everything on these trucks ourselves.
We have all been there, I just finished a carb rebuild, my brother installed and then I spent about 1 1/2 hours trying to tune it .... the small vacuum cap under the float bowl was missing !!!!!! Ran much better with that installed!
The second of 6 F100's I have owned (all but two were for parts) I got for $50.00 because the PO was so angry because it ran rough and would not run for more than a few blocks before just shutting down. I bought it for the doors but when I got to looking I discovered two important things: 1. It really is important to have the plug wires going to the appropriate cylinders, and 2. That ground strap going from the battery to the engine DOES need to be tightened down. The 240 ran like a top and is still sitting in the garage "just in case" something goes with my 300ci.
Hey I put a BBC engine together and got the cloyes double roller timing chain lined up on the 0 degree mark instead of the timing mark. Did you know thats four teeth advanced on the valve timing. It ran until it hit passing gear and the higher RPMs introduced an intake valve to a piston. Worst part is it was in my bosses toy hauler truck. It all worked out well, I found a better job a week later.
