Anybody come up with a way to safely remove the vinyl bedrail protectors and keep em well enought to reuse? I have to do some paint on a new bed, and like them well enough to keep em, but figure unless someone turns me on to the secret, they will be toast when coming off.
JELLO is right about the clips that go throught the metal part of the bed side but, your covers may also be glued on. At least that's what a truck cap retailer told me when I asked the same question. Apparently they are on for life. That is if you don't want to damage anything trying to remove 'em.
Ok, I figured pliers and a good try may work, and the worse case scenario would be replacing them. I will look for the glue too. Thanks a bunch! I guess it does say something how they mount them, my rig has 171K on it, and there isnt any real rub marks on that joint....
I had 1 off on my 04, there was only clips and they are really on there. Also you can get to most but not all of the clips from the bottom. I started in the back and worked my way forward, when I got to the hidden one's I had an assistant pull up and using a prybar I pushed the tab in (working between the bed and rail, not from the bottom) to release them. I was able to reuse the moulding no problem
I tore mine off. Used some plyers for the ones I could get to and just pulled the rest of the plastic off. Some broke but there was no glue at all. I hate those damm things, rubs the paint.

What did you do, Rhino-line them, say over the bed rail up to the body line?
thanks
I was thinking if I did it I would go down a little further, to the next body line on the bed.
Sweet rig
did those drop-in bed pockets fit alright?
