off road and towing package
Other than the body graphics, how does one determine if their truck has the off road package or the towing package? Exactly what does each package consist of?

Hopefully I'm not heading in the wrong direction here, but I am kind of assuming you are talking about a newer Super Duty.
If that's the case, the FX4 package is comprised of Rancho-branded shocks, skid plates, and the FX4 stickers.
There really isn't a tow package/option so to speak. The optional 12.5K Built Ford Tough trailer hitch reciever comes pre-wired with both a 7-pin & 4-pin trailer connector. And, the optional TowCommand system (OEM integrated trailer brake controller--to the right of the steering column) includes the telescoping trailer tow mirrors.

what year truck do you have? i think either way the main difference is skid plates for the off-road package or fx-4 if it is newer
