So here's my plan. My '74 4x4 F100 is going to go under a complete rebuild someday. That's far away though, right now I just wanna' fix the serious P/S issue it has. Using info I've collected, I've decided I'm going attempt to bend the power cylinder rod back into a straighter line and I'm going to pour some transmission sealer in to stop the leaks. I think that will be enough to keep the steering in fairly good condition for a cabin work truck until I rebuild it some day.
This is power assist? Good luck with the hydraulic ram. At this point you have nothing to lose.
My truck came with the power assist in a neat pile under the workbench. The PO found a universal replacement drag link-Moog brand I think. All I remember about the cost is that it wasn't out of line for a drag link.
The 15 inch steering wheel did wonders for my upper body strength. I've since added a larger diameter steering wheel from a van. My wife has driven it with 10 1/2" wide tires, not too rough. The 12 1/2" wide tires caused her some pain. It'll have power steering. Some day she might have to drive me out of the boonies.
