hey guys i could use a little help ive got some rust holes along the truck in various spots and need to know how to go about patching them there are some that are in the middle of the door and some that are in the corners which i would think are harder to deal with than the middle holes anyways any info you guys can give me id appreciate thx
I had success with smaller rust holes using "OSPHO" or equivelant. It converts rust to a hard waterproof black primer. First use a wire brush or something, to scale rust away. (I used a wire wheel on a makita for quickness). Then tap the area with a ball-peen hammer or something to lift up any scale that may not have come up from brushing. Then apply the rust converter as per directions with spray bottle, or a brush. Then use a heavy (or zinc rich) rust-proof primer.
you have just stopped the rust from spreading, and may want to look at structurally repairing, or aesthetically repairing. It sounds like you need just some spott filler or maybe small panels.
I have just replaced my floor pans in my 77 f150, So I am fresh out of the trenches where rust is concerned.
