Lower door weatherstrip
I have a 99 V10 ext cab and I have noticed (besides the lower door seam rust) that my truck never came with the lower weather stripping. All the holes are there for the mounting pins but the weatherstrip is absent on all four doors.
The dealer wants about $250 for the 4 pieces.
Is there a cheaper aftermarket alternative?
Would the weatherstrip help prevent more rust?

You should be able to get them here for less than $100 bucks for all 4. IMy 99 needed a drivers side (front) lower and it was about $20 bucks.

I replaced my weatherstrip down at the bottom of the door. After about a half a year of leaving it on, I finally took it back off. I found that it held moister right along that seem and created more rust. I ended up grinding down the rust, POR-15ing it, painted it, and used a sealer to seal the seam up before putting another layer of paint on it. I figure that I'd let the seals off of the door and allow the air in there to dry out those seems when they get wet. Just my 2 cents.
