Issues pulling motor?

I have all bolts that I can see off the tranny to the block, yet I can't get it to come off the tranny. I have motor mounts off, and all bolts from tranny to block. Headers are disconnected. Am I missing something? Tips on getting it loose?

Did you pull the starter and if it's an auto did you unbolt the torque convertor and if it's a manual did you pull the bottom block plate bolts? It would be helpful if you jacked up the tranny while lifting the motor up. This keeps the motor and tranny at the same angle and no bidding. It will have to go back together like this.

It's an automatic. I unbolted the driveshaft to the tranny and tranny to the motor at the bell housing. Starter is off. Where does the torque converter bolt to? I think I have everything. I'll try jacking up the tranny.

torgue converter bolts to the flywheel on the motor, should be a little cover with 2 bolts on the bottom of the trans you take out to get to them, then take the converter bolts out, will have to spin the engine over to get to them

I think you just need to pry the engine from the bellhousing - sometimes they get stuck together. Even if you didn't unbolt the converter bolts, you'd still be able to slide the converter off the pump shaft...however, again, you'd need to pry the two apart while you're trying to pull the engine out. Its really a 2-man job...

How many bellhousing bolts did you pull? Positive you got all of them?

Spin the engine? The motor doesn't turn over if that' what you mean. I tried jacking the tranny up and still won't budge. Then, the picker keeps rolling forward and rubbing on the frontend of the truck, how do I prevent the picker from rolling forward? I see the cover, that portion doesn't look like it's connected to anything.

I think when he said spin the engine he means to turn the flywheel. A good pry bar worked for me when I pulled my 351m last month.

Some give me a step by step, so I can see what I might have missed. Is it necessary to unbolt the torque converter?

It is nessary to unbolt the tourque. Take the starter off, unbolt the ransmission, take the the bolts out of the tourque, and make sure everything is unhooked and out of the way.

AND organize everything and remeber where it goes. I learned that the hard way I pulled my engine in February and I still don't have anything done.

Okay, I must be blonde then. I've looked and don't see anything. Where is the torque located? Starter is off, all bolts from bell housing, off. headers off, the tranny won't budge.

The picker is rolling or tipping forward. if its tipping you need to extend the lower legs out more. if its rolling then the picker isn't in far enough to pick the motor straight up.

its really hard to explain in words how to do this. you really ave to look things over like a puzzle and figure out what goes where and how to get it apart. you've been given the pieces to look for and one can pull the motor with the converotr still attached to it but it will make things even harder than they already are so unbolt the convertor to make things easier on your self.

if i could see pics of what and how you are doing things i may be able offer better help.

as mentioned they could very well just be stuck from the years. if you do not have the motor mounts up high enough to pull the motor forward then it will never come apart.

Here's where I'm at. I have some pics on my ftp server. click the following:

You might have to copy and paste it to your address bar since this site here may not like the link.
