Just curious if any of you may know something about my problem!
Ok, here is the diagnostic, I installed the accu speed part # 50109 in my 1993 Ford F 250, the ABS light is on all the time, I have double checked everything and it all is hooked up the way the directions say! Everything seems to work good up to 40mph, I have a GPS also to determine the speed! Once I hit about 42 the speedometer stays at 42 no matter how fast I go, Also up to 40 mph the cruise control works right, after 45 mph, if you set the cruise control it just keeps accelerating! What could my problem be, Thanks again for your help
It sounds like your are having issues with your VSS on your rear end. This also controls your abs and cruise. Did you put that chip on there to calibrate your speedo? If so, get rid of it, i can give you a link to a free and easy way to calibrate that speed, I had 37's on my F-250 and it was spot on.
I did not know that there was a chip that could be on the rear end, I bought the Jet Performance Accu-Speed that you wire in, but, it is acting wierd with it wired in, I would be very interested in the link to do this. Thanks for your response!
I just went and looked, it does not look like there is a chip, there is nothing in between the where the wires plug into the rear ends! I hope I can get this Accu Speed figured out because it is suppost to also change the shift points !
there is a gizmo in ther ear end that controls the ABS and cruise. And he is asking you if you put in the accuspeed in your truck to re-adjust your speedometer. If you did...take it back out and make your adjustments by changing the computer thats already in the truck, rather than waisting your money and time on a speedometer chip. Theres a process and math formula for it. Dusten can help, im sure hes done it more than once.
Ok, I have taken that out, and I will try to return it for a refund! But as for now, I am interested in how to recalibrate the speedo, I am running 35x12.50x16.5 BFG Mud Terrains! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
"First, you'll need to know the actual height of the tires, not the
nominal height of 35" that's printed on the sidewall. To get that,
make a mark on the edge of the tire at the ground, and mark the ground
directly under the mark. Now, roll the truck far enough for the tire
to have made three revolutions. When your mark on the tire is at the
very bottom, near the ground, mark the ground again, and measure the
distance between the two marks on the ground. Divide that distance by
three, since there were three revolutions of the tire, then divide
that number, (which is the circumference of your tire,) by 3.14. The
answer you have is the true height of your tire. Write that number
down, because you'll need it for the next step. Divide 30282 by your
actual height. If your true height is 34", the math goes something
like this: 30282/34=891. That would be your speedometer calibration
code."
"To set the calibration, ground the single wire connector under the
glove box it says PSOM (Programable Speedometer Opdometer Module).
"Yes there is only one and it has a spade type plug on the end". I
used a wire with clips on both ends to ground the plug to a screw
under the dash or try a test light and use the clip end to the PSOM
and the other jam in a door hinge. Now look at your speedometer on the
face of your dash while sitting in the drivers seat and there should
be a "reset" button and a "select" button. While holding the reset
button in on the trip meter, turn the ignition to 'on' while the wire
is still grounded. Let go of the reset button. The speedometer display
will sweep once and will show a code of some kind then push in again
the "reset" button and the existing code will be displayed with
RECAL?, mine said 976 RECAL? Now you enter your new code you came up
with by dividing the rolling measurement by PI or 3.14 by pushing the
"select" button until it gets to the new calibration code number. You
may have to push "select" a whole bunch of times until you get to your
code. If you turn off the key at this point the original code will not
be changed or any of the 6 lives will not be used. To store your new
code press "Reset". Turn off the key. Unplug the ground wire."
Well thank you guys, I guess I learned a lesson, ask on here before I go buying parts! Now hopefully I will be able to send the Accu-Speed back since it does not work right anyways!
