Question Cleaning/Detailing Interior Question

I would like to know what people are using to clean up the interiors of their trucks. The main thing I want to clean is my F150's dash and door panels. I have wiped them down with damp cloth and used the protectants, but for the last several years there has become a build up of dirt etc embedded down in the grain/textured areas. What should I use to clean them before I put protectant on. I hope no one makes a reference to any Armor All product. Any other interior cleaning tips are welcome also.

Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It works great on getting out all the dirt biuld up over the years.

Before application of protectant, I use Simple Green (full strength) to remove any imbedded dirt. After all the old protectant and dirt are removed. Apply insert favorite protectant over it. Been doing it for the past 9 years or so, with excellent results!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I'll take those suggestions into consideration. I like the simple green idea. I have used tuff stuff on upholstery and carpet with good results. Do you use it on plastic as well? I never even thought about the mr clean eraser before.

Hi.

Just read your question and had a spare 2 cents. I recently cleaned a steering wheel that had built up sweat and other gunk from the PO over the years. Most cleaners would not touch it including Simple Green. A lesser problem would probably have been fine for Simple Green but this stuff was greasy and caked into the grain.

I tried Meguiars' Mirror Glaze #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner with a soft brush and in 1 application the wheel looked like new. I followed with Mirror Glaze #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner Conditioner for a great finish.

You can learn more and see the products on my website at www.drdetailforless.com

Thanx for listening
