Question 06fx4 PVH?

anybody know what hub system my ranger has? I have read and searched but no positive information. its a 4.0, 5spd automatic with the **** by the radio. And while im posing any problems with this truck i should keep an eye out for. ive owned 2 other rangers and they bolth were great but no automatic or brand new.

If it's an '06 you own then it has the direct engagement 4x4 system.

PVH was only used on the Ranger '98-'00.

The direct engagement system means there are no hubs. The front drive shaft and differential, along with the drive axles, are all permanently locked together and spin along with the wheel ends whenever the truck is moving. The 4WD system is engaged/dis-enegaged entirely at the transfer case.

ok so in this system a locker/posi unit would make it hard to drive unless it was an air locker or cable kinda thing so i could disengadge the unit and make it like an open differential? yes that was a quetion i know it sounded like a statement sorry
