Quick D60 question

I stumbled across a 78/9 front D60 this morning(literally tripped over it...) that was complete minus locking hubs... It's not really useable to me as is, but, I have an 88 60 kicking around that is minus axles, spindles, caliper brackets etc, basicly just a housing, knuckles and a complete diff. From what I've seen so far, most that stuff off of the 79 axle should work in the 88, other than the inner axles.
Is my info correct, or should I just convert my F250 over to coils and run radius arms with the early axle? LOL

The early D60s didn't have coils.
The only D60 with coils are in the new super dutys.

I know that... The early 60 is desireable for adapting to a coil/radius arm setup, whcih I have parts for....

I think thats correct. My alcohol-sodden brain is working pretty slow right now so don't take it as gospel though

Ok, I was just makeing sure you didn't have a D44 or anything like that.
I don't know if it is easyer on the 70s D60s, but I've seen it don't alot.

What would your truck be used for? If you want flexing, then converting to coils would be the ticket, but then it's a project, getting rid of all the leaf spring brackets, and put all coil spring buckets, seats, and everything.

That's a pretty decent offer :flipoff2: But, after carefull consideration over some Crown, I'm going to do coils/radius arms with it under my 460 pig... This should be interesting... LOL

Holy smokes! Thats how I do all my carefull consideration too!

Sounds like a fun project. Some flexy coils would be bangin. Course, with all that extra room with no leaves you should throw the radiator in the rear, chop a foot off the nose. Might as well dovetail the hood and then....

LOL... Funny how great minds think alike...

I'm thinking maybe wild horses 5.5" coils or something along those lines...
No putting the cart before the horse here... I've no problem with chopping up the chassis and welding it together, but, sheetmetal work is not my Forte... And, street legality is sorta necessary for this rig, I do drive it to some of the local trails...
I am tempted to remote mount the rad tho, I have had had issues with the drivetrain shifting forward and the fan clutch kissing the rad before... Lets just say that I'm never backing up to hook onto somebody just by their directions in the mirror again...
I'm debating chopping another 17" out of the wheelbase though... I have a perfectly good FlareSide bed kicking around, and the truck has a very beat up 8 footer on it now... LOL

Broncograveyard.com sells a nice set of supper flex coil springs and a good price, and they are great for flex, ride comfort, and easy on the budget.

Getting rid of the long wheel base idea, doesn't sound bad!
