Hey guy ive got a little problem with my doors. They are shut all the way but the door ajar light stays on aswell as the interior light. I dont want it to drain my battery so every time i go somewere i have to disconnect it. What do u think the problem is and how do i fix it.
Clearn them with some spray electronics cleaner and check the tech forum for articles on how to adjust them.
It's not rocket science , you can probably figure out how to adjust by looking at the switch.
I have an 88 so the switch is probably different, that why I'm not being specific.
i had the same problem with my 1998 f150 wd40 in the latch mechanism took care of it spent two days unhooking the battery though i kept looking for the the little push button on the door jam
Yeah, they don't have door jamb switches like you'd expect. It's in the latch mechanism. Soak it down with WD-40, and open and close the door a few times.
I've replaced mine a couple of time over the last 6 yrs. I keep swapping the spare in the truck and lube the one just removed to replace the spare. It only takes me about 30 minutes to take the door apart replace the switch and reassemble it. Then my door doesn't get messy with overspray.
