Thumbs up Engine Swap

hey guy's,
First time post, long time reader. I want to swap out my 351 Windsor with a 390FE into my '67 Mustang. I know i will need to replace my c-6 tranny with an fe c-6. My questions are will the fe c-6 bolt onto the tranny crossmember with no problems and will the 390 mount into the engine compartment without any modification. The 390 is a 1974 from a ford f-100 4x4, never rebuilt.Of course b4 i throw it in i will rebuild it.
I have read that the '67 Mustang came stock with the 390 in the GT. I have a coupe, I think the engine compartments are the same? So it should bolt right up. Any help is appreciatted.

Yeah, its a basic swap. You will need frame mounts and motor mounts, transmission crossmember, driveshaft and exaust. Its very easy, they did come stock in 67 and 68 and the parts arent to hard to find.

Have you considered stroking the 351W. You will save yourself a ton of minor problems since nothing on the outside of the engine will change. It's just a thought. Good luck.

you will have to drill and tap to use the mustang manifolds.different bolt pattern.these manifolds are pricey.theres a lot of work and expense to this swap.new springs etc,.

i to would think to keep the windsor. there is far more aftermarket parts for it. can be stroked into a monster for the same cost as a basic rebuild.

First off, welcome aboard!

Secondly, might I ask what your motivation is behind swapping in the FE? Since the FE needs a rebuild, I would have to say stick with the 351w you already have in there. Punch that thing out to a 408 and be happy that you can change the plugs from the top of the car...
