Thumbs down SuperCab Doppleganger **NOT**

While I was driving home from work today, I spotted a 1975 F-250 SuperCab that was exactly the same color as mine. The only real difference was that this truck had the full chrome package, including the wheel well trim pieces that I've been trying to find for my truck for such a long time. Although I have found a few full sets at a decent price. They've all had some type of major damage problem. Unfortunately, all of the chrome packages that I've located that are in really decent shape are priced way beyond what I can afford to pay.

To get back to the point that I'm trying to get across to everyone here is the fact that although this truck had all the right stuff as far as the chrome package goes. The fact that it also happened to be towing one of those portable cement mixers which had totally wasted the entire exterior of the vehicle, chrome package and all!

Made me feel very mad as well as very sad!

I've always been a real avid fan of these trucks and to see someone who just doesn't give a crap about what they do to them.

Just pisses me off!

Thanks for listening!

You know as much as it SUCKS to see a nice old truck with parts you needed get used by "someone who just doesn't give a crap about what they do to them" remember its a truck its thier truck and maybe its payin thier bills.Maybe they looked at your truck and said "gee why doen't that driver get a car if they are not going to use a truck as a truck".What makes trucks so great is that they are trucks.Just think that trucks 30 years old and still working hard makes me feel kinda good when I think about it.

i hear what you are sayin'. i hate to see a classic abused, but as eedvark said,at least its being used 30 years later. we all cant afford to only use "new" trucks to make money.some have to start out using what they already have,or what they can afford to buy. not all of us are car/truck guys.some just see vehicles as transportation.-billy

Well, using a truck as a truck is one thing.

I used mine to haul wood, and to haul gravel, and to even haul pavement for the driveway. It's got minor dings and scratches, and needs paint. I keep the truck washed and waxed, to protect the metal, and I like it looking good too. Wash and paste wax every spring and fall, and it should keep it looking fair.

It doesn't bother me to use the truck as it was intended, for work.

What does bother me is people that abuse the trucks. Doing something silly like ripping the tailgate off it's hinges and tearing the bed fenders half off, and saying, "It's a truck, it's meant to work with." is going too far in my book.

75 SuperCab. It is always distressing to see how some people treat their possessions (and other people too in some cases). I learned long ago that how others do things is usually an indication of their personalities - something that is generally unchangable. Many years ago (1974) a friend of mine and I both bought the identical car - his was red and mine green. I lovingly cared for the vehicle for years and really enjoyed it; he mistreated his, never changed the oil and generally drove the crap out of it. I added suspension upgrades, a better cam, wider wheels with better tires etc etc.. I sold mine for $1500 after 17 years (259,000 miles on the clock) - the buyer took a 700 mile bus ride to get my car (he still drives it today in his home town of Nelson, B.C.!) My friend couldn't get $1000 for his after only a few years.
Do yourself a favour and don't worry about how the other guy treats his stuff - just please keep on being one of the guys who cares. Sorry, I sound like a preacher....
