My ride is becoming rough, lots of bounce when I push down on the bumpers, etc. I think its time for new shocks, after 111,000 on my 96 F150 standard cab short bed 4x4.
I have been looking around a lot, and have seen what seem to be good deals on skyjacker (buy 4, get $30 rebate), Pro Comp (Es3000 all 4 plus boots and steering stabilizer for $139), and I have been reading through the forums and seen that lots of people recommend Monroe (around $200 for 4). Pro comp seems to be the best sale, but im not sure if it is the best shock...
I have a $200 limit for this purchase, but I want to make the best purchase I can with the money. I know pro comp and skyjacker and both off road shocks, and I dont really take my truck off road often, but still want a shock that would perform well. I want a general softer ride since I already have a short wheel base (makes bumps tough sometimes). Just a good performing shock would be great. I see that most come with a lifetime warranty. What are your opinions for my application??
i think i tried procomp and those were terrible...i then switched to edelbrock and those were good but needed a little more heavy duty because all of our trucks r overloaded...i tried bilstein and am sold on those being the most hd
For trucks and 4x4 suv's i've used KYB. I just put a set on my 95 Montero and what a great difference it made. I bought them thru an Ebay dealer (shock warehouse)
set of 4 KYB Gas-a-just w\ship apx. $165.00, it sure beats the dealer price on the stock electronic replacments at $175.00 EACH!
