what does it take to turn a 360 into a 390 or bigger motor.i am trying to keep from boreing it out.does the pans, covers, intake all interchange?i have a two barrel carb now can i put a four barrel on or do i have to change intakes?do all F100 1968's have air shocks or was this a option or aftermarket?
Visit the FE engine forum and do a search, and you'll find dozens (if not hundreds) of threads on this topic.
The short answer is that everything interchanges. The only difference between the 360 and the 390 is the rotating assembly (crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons). The block, heads, accessories, etc., are all the same.
Oh, and you can put a 4v carb on a 2v intake by using an adapter, but there's no point to it. Depending on what you want the motor to do, there's probably little reason, if any, to switch from a 2v to a 4v carb. It's just added complexity and cost for no real benefit in a truck.
I'm not aware of air shocks being either standard equipment or an option from the factory. They certainly weren't standard. If they were an option, it's a rare option. More likely is that they are aftermarket items.
