trim/paint

I am restoring a 68 camper special. my grand father bought the truck
new in 68 and i have been beging for it since i was 15 , i finaly got the truck a couple years ago14 years later,i did a total rebuild on the motor, now its time for paint, the body is in exilent condition. only one little ding in the hood. the trim is a little ruff ,i dont kno weather to pull all the trim off and spot weld the holes and paint it or save money and buy a new trim kit??the trim kits i have found are expensive.
paint, the truck is a two tone red and white i dont know weather to do the same or red and black??
what do you guys think???

I guess the color combo is up to you but if you go tutone, it's probably better to keep the chrome. There should still be good used stuff available; check out the classifieds on this site and papers.

If he bought it new i would go back original. The trim is widley available.I bought some very nice NOS peices on the FTE classifieds. And some good used stuff.Always ask for pics and if they wont COD,dont buy it!

If you use a good urethane the paint will last forever under the trim.Unless this is a "woodcuttin'" truck.Put the trim back.Too plain without.
Your grandpa would be proud if you somewhat restored it.
Have fun.
