I posted a little while back about a tapping noise in my truck and have come to the conclusion that it must either be an overly worn cam lobe or the lobe for the fuel pump is bad. Is it likely that one cam lobe would wear alot and the others won't. There is only one tapping noise and it is coming from the front of the engine.(It is not an exhaust leak) Should I definitley replace the cam or should I just not worry about it until I rebuild the engine? Will this tapping damage the engine at all? If I do put a different cam in it should I just go with a stock one seeing as how there is no way I can afford a four barrel intake and carb?
Thanks for any help

The fuel pump lobe is going to wear the least. It doesn't have near the load as the others. The sound you explained sounds like a lifter gone bad. Depending when you want to rebuild would depend if you should replace cam or rebuild. As far as what cam to use you need to decide what you want. The manufactures have 800 numbers and can help you a whole lot, you need to know what you want the engine to do.
