Thanks to my wonderful and patient girlfriend Rhonda, my gallery is finally working. The pics are okay considering it's my first dealings with a digital camera. I have a long way to go before I can do things for myself (haha). This is exactly how I bought the truck and it runs fantastic. It wiil be nice to start out with a project that's in good shape for once! Hopefully I can start on the drivetrain soon.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Sep-02 AT 09:31 AM (EST)]Very nice! I wish mine was that clean and straight. Even the firewall mat looks good. Congrats.
:7 Thanks! I have looked at quite a few of these trucks and most are well used to say the least. This one was used in a cabinet making business and most of the miles are long highway miles. The owner was not a mechanic so it was taken in to a professional when it needed work. I can't believe how good everything is both inside and out for a thirty year old truck. The previous owner took very good care of it and I will continue to do so. I hope my improvements will make it even better.
Looks Great! I wish mine was even half as nice. It said in your gallery you wanted to change to a v8. You should keep it original and just update that 240. You can get hop ups for them, 4bl, header, cam. Besides being able to keep original it will be that much different. But I can see where your coming from mine wasn't original so I am going 5.0 fuel injected.
I want to restore the interior and exterior just like it came from the factory. I even like the color! My changes to the drivetrain will be a big inch Windsor and a 5 or 6 speed transmission. By no means will it be a gutted and stripped down dragster or a trailer queen. I want to be able to reliably drive this truck anywhere, from a local cruise night to the Hot Rod Power Tour. I will add air conditioning and cruise control for comfortable travel. It will still be a pump gas engine and I'm pretty sure it can make over 500 horsepower at the wheels and still be manageable on the street. With an overdrive transmission you can put a decent gear ratio (4.11 to 4.56) in it and still have good manners on the highway. It's lots of work and lots of money, but done in small steps it won't take very long. Everyone has to start somewhere. The engine part will be the easiest for me. A place to work on the truck itself is a little more difficult, but I will manage. I look forward to it!
