I have allways heard that Banks turbos are the way to go for 7.3's. Its hard to argue with an additional and adjustable 300 lb ft of torque. I happen to have one for sale. If your interested let me know and I'll send you some pics and a price.

Banks makes a complete turbo for the powerstroke? I know they have one for the old 7.3 idi and 6.9, but I think they only offer an exhaust housing, and a new compressor wheel for the superdutys.

powersmoker have you thought about twins? (click here) The h2e is there too.

If its hypermax its probably an h2e which i think would be a little laggy with stage 1 injectors. As far as i know ats doesnt make any turbo for our truck except the ball bearing unit for the superduties. In all honesty the stock turbo is fine for towing and stage 1's. I towed very heavy (20k gross min sometimes up to 26k+ gross) with stock turbo, 6oh ic and stage 2's and had absolutly no problems with egt's. Your best bet may be to get your hands on a 6oh ic cheap and swap it in. Ive been told the s300 is very similar to the h2e, but i have no experience with it so im not 100% on that.

No they arent the best and No its not a complete turbo they are just upgrades. For superduties banks makes a compressor wheel, ported intake housing, big head wastegate actuator and 1.0 exh housing. all the comp wheel and intake housing do is eliminate surge/stall and the larger ex housing lowers exh back pressure and should lower egt's at same time. The wastegate actuator just holds wastegate shut so you can run a little higher boost. For obs strokes banks makes a smaller ex housing 1.0 compared to the stock 1.15. This helps spool up since our inj are so small. The smaller housing really helps out when you add an ic to a stock inj truck due to the lag being terrible with stock housing and ic.
