I learned to drive stick in our '65 M-350. I wanted to turn it into a pickup but Dad didn't let me. So I found a '51 F-1 and brought it home, found out it needed alot more parts. Got a '51 M-3 and decided to fix this one with the F-1 as parts. Previous owner of the M-3 found me another '51 M-3. I tried to get the second M-3 to run (engine was seized good) and continue from frame up on the first M-3. Then I put all the good parts on the second M-3 with a 302 and AOD. Now I hope to put all my the stuff from the second M-3 on to a 73-79 F-350 frame. How did you guys get started with your old ford truck?
Great story dueller. I learned to drive on Dad`s 53 F350. Should of never traded that truck. After that I got a 68 F350 that was a better farm work truck, just didn`t seem as cool or as much fun as the 53. After the 68 came a 75 F350 then a 77 F600. The last F350 was an 89 diesel. Then back to a 67 F350 and now a 71 F350. Lots of F100/250`s in between including three 53`s and 75 & 76 F250 4X4`s.
A couple of 70`s Rancheros and a dozen or so Mustangs, couple of Torinos including a 71 Cobra Torino GT/429.
I have two Ford Louisville 8000 diesel gravel trucks for Bobcat work.
Still have a 40`s Ford or Mercury grain truck in the back 40 and a dozen or so 50`s/60`s Ford parts trucks around the farm....
My first Ford was a 51 sedan, bought it for $25.00 from my friends older brother. It was always blowing steam out the radiator. I was fourteen at the time. I drove it around the farm for a couple of years till it finally died. My next one was a brand new 81 F150, since that time I have had a 84, 86, 94, 96. I have also fixed up 2 80's, 3 81's and a 83 and resold them for extra cash. Right now I have my 67 M500, 81 F100 and now my PSD.
My first driving truck was a 76ish GMC with a 350 auto. (don't worry i was only about nine and that truck was since then demolished with wrenchs.)
Next was a 65 Mercury 3 speed, which I put alot of miles on hauling scrap iron. It had a motor that was originally a CCIL swater. (when I was sixteen though my dad sold it to our next door neighbor for 700)
When I was fifteen I bought my International, but just last year I developed the courage to drive it daily.
Just a couple of months before I got my liscence I bought a 75 Ford 360 auto. and drove it LEGALLY.

Learned to drive in a '75 toyota station wagon. My first truck was an '86 dodge 1-ton (still have it) It's my Bee truck. Hold the phone. I almost forgot about my '52 F-3. It's not running right now.
A big block would be sweet. What it needs is TLC. and a good clutch linkage. Oh yaeh, and a fuel tank. It should actually run, 'cause I rebuilt the engine a few years ago, but haven't gotten back to it. I have a spare 239 flathead block if anyone need it.
The a rebuilt Flathead is be sweet, what do you need for clutch linkage parts? I have an older Ford grain truck in the bush, it`s about a 1945 . The parts may fit if you need any.
