I've just picked up a cargo light for my '72 F250, and have some questions. Does the wider edge of the light face up or down, and was there a separate switch for this light or was it controlled along with the dome light?
On my 1968 F100 there was a switch on the dash, to the right
of the steering wheel (down by the cigarette lighter and manual choke). This switch worked the cargo light. It was pretty big (looked like a cigarette lighter), and you turned the light on by pulling the **** out (towards you). There was a bulb inside the **** handle which lit-up and glowed red when the cargo light was on. I'm not sure what the switch looked like in 1972...I'm going to install
the cargo light from my 68 on my 72.
Thanks, not sure if this is going to come with a switch or not. Picked it up on Ebay. I see you have a '68 Torino, my first car was a '68 Cyclone GT with a 302. Man, I LOVE those cars. They look so damned hot! Anyways, thanks again, I think I'll hook my cargo light to work with the dome light, unless the switch comes with it then I'll try that.
My '72 has the switch in the same place, just to the right of the column, but to the left of the hazard flasher switch.

I like the idea of running it parallel with the dome light. The dome power is right there and you don’t need another switch. Also, you won’t forget you left it on cause the dome light will be your indicator.
I'm hooking mine up original when I install it. I like the separate circuit better. The glowing switch won't let me forget it's on and I won't have the glare from the dome light in my eyes when I'm looking out the back window...
