Can you polish up a painted grill to replace a polished aluminum grill? I can find good painted ones but no polished ones.

I may be wrong about this, but I think they are different metals. If I remember correctly, the 67-69 grilles were either anodized aluminum (on the Custom Cab and Ranger models) or painted steel. If you remove the paint from a painted grille, it will just rust on you.

You can check by seeing if a magnet will stick to your painted grille. If it does, it is steel.

Yeah I hadn't tried the magnet test yet. I was just wondering. The grill is the holy grail of these trucks. Thanks.

I went and looked at a 67 for sale in Tucson. The grill looked different than mine which is polished aluminum. Turned out it was a painted grill that the guy had gotten chromed. It looked great!
