i was checking out my shop manual and it tells me to run my I6 223 at 500-550 rpm's at idle. this seems low as im running at about 850 now...what do some of you other guys run your 223'a idle speed at.
I run mine at 525, thats about where the generator light goes out
yeah mine goes ou around there too...but the engine seems to kind of bounce around too much. mine seems to stay in better balance with the rpms' at 800...thanks for the reply though
it shouldn't come on at that RPM, what are you using to measure it???? if it is, you may have a bad of miss adjusted regulator...have you adjusted the points and dwell and set the timing??? do that first, then try your idle speed and mixture screw adjustments..does your engine have a PVC valve between the crankcase vent and intake manifold??? you can check for vacuum leaks by spraying some WD40 around the carb base and intake to head ports and see if theres any change in RPM
