Driving home last night and the truck shuddered violently when applying power in any gear. I was actually hoping that it would throw a code so that I would have at least some idea where to look. I kept applying power then the CEL started flashing indicating misfire, so I pulled over and shut it down. When I started it up I had a hard code, check with my reader showed P0303 "cylinder 3 misfire detected".
If I drive around with little load the truck won't show any symptoms. When I apply power, it shudders and misses.
Havn't yet had a look at it. Any ideas? I'll have a look at the plug and wires etc for that cylinder. Any other reasons why this would happen?
I've had an intermittent miss for a long time in this truck. When I change out the plugs the symptoms totally dissappear for about 6 months, then slowly creep back, getting worse and worse. This time I let it go and thankfully I now have a code to at least start with.
BTW, I use Autolite DP's, I've replaced the wires and coil pack as well, use dilectric grease in all the boots. Never been able to track down this annoying problem.....Ideas?
That's the thing, the plugs all look really good, they're all identical. Wouldn't the injector malfunction throw it's own code if it were, say out of range or something?
