1987 F-150 Key/Ignition Problem
Key turns but doesn't start truck and key doesn't return. Just stays where ever you leave it. Doesn't seem to be connected to anything. Key lock cylender was replaced about six months ago and has been working fine. I'm sure that this subject has been covered somewhere in this forum, but I have no idea how to search without getting hundreds of posts that could take hours/days to review.

it is most likely the ignition switch actuator cam.common occurence. cost is around $12 at ford dealer for the part, and takes between 2 and 8 hours to put in, depending on your level of experence.

Thanks. It was a broken lower actuator. Is there an
easy method of adjusting the upper to lower actuator gears? The last time I worked in this area, I recall it taking me a number of trial and error attempts before getting the gears aligned properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
