95 4.9L, anyone heard of this part. It's a metal tube that has six tubes comming off it which thread into each cylinder head. On one end of the long tube there is a big diaphram.
I don't know if it's right or not, but I think you're talking about what I call the Intake Manifold. I'm not exactly around mechanics, so I don't know proper names.
tpntx,
the description of the part seems to indicate the intake manifold. Aluminum material, (6) plenum tubes running 1 each to each cylinder. The throttle body (efi) will be attached to the manifold plenum box, (that bid rectangle mass on top) which will then have your air box tube(s), and then finally the airbox with your air filter. If this decription does not sound like your part, we will need more info,
Good luck!
I think that's your air injection manifold. It's designed to get extra air into the exhaust stream at certain times to help the catalytic converters work more efficiently.
thats probably it A.I.R.
All the ford guy could figure from my desc. was Secondary Air Intake. He even gave me a price 200.00+.
So far this part only comes from ford Im checking salvage yards on line today. I just had to buy a lower manifold because the one on it had the ears broken. Luckily it was only 65.00.
That is the A.I.R injection rail for emissions control. That thing you call a diaphram is actually a check valve. It should be attached to the exhaust manifold and not the intake.

I attempted to remove mine during the overhaul and when one of the fittings started to round off, I left it alone. I knew that Ford would be the only one to have it and their prices are sky high. I had to buy the pipe for the EGR valve and that alone was $80.
I got mine from rockauto.com. It was nowhere near $230 and their part fit like a glove. When I swapped motors, mine got mangled too getting it off. It's easy to do.
Try a different year. It's called an air injection crossover pipe. You'll find it listed in the emissions sub-section. I was able to find in the 1988 listing. This part should be the same for all 87-96.
