I've just checked my front hubs and splindle bearings again and again and again.
I cannot find the source of the noise. Can rear wheel bearing sound like a front one ? I'm taking a break right now but will be back out and under it after a beer and cigarette..
did you actually check your ball joints? those can cause some problems and noises. next teh rear ends can sound pretty bad when the spider gears go out. Quick way to check if you hve a open diff is jack it up leave it in gear or park and with both tires off the ground spin one of them by hand, it should be smooth but if it's rough then you know your spider gears are out or on thier way.
Also check for tires that are starting to cup from misalignment.
And yes noises can travel very badly, and can be hard to pin point.
Yes sir.....handing you a Coors Lite......I checked the ***** joints.....The entire front end is tight, no un even tire wear or cupping.... I'm going out right now to check the
rear.....awww, I'll have another beer first.
Well, I lifted it up, all 4 off the ground.
Started it, no noise anywhere, even in 4x4....
U joints are all free and move, everything looks and sounds good.
So I guess it's my imgaination...
Thanks every one for your help and input..
The beers on me.
Well I don't know if this will help... but I had a noise that sounded like a wheel bearing that was acctually the axle shaft bouncing around from a wheel bearing failing in a way that still let the outside spin while the inside stopped. I couldn't figure it out myself and it took three shops to figure it out. Hope it is something simpler to fix cause I had to get a new axle and that wasn't cheep. Oh, yeah I'll take a Sam Adams
