My 1994 4.9 with the trouble free e40d, has developed a nasty habit of downshifting when accelerating in overdrive. It would be like turning the (od off button) on as soon as i step on the gas really hard. The engine just screams redline. acceleration is good but it used to accelrate much nicer before. I know that kind of load isnt good. And im not accelerating up a hill or nothing either.
Even if im doin say 60 down a hill and step on it, it downshifts (although speed remains the same) and starts screamin till it hits overdrive once again at about 75miles/hr. What do you all think? Thanks
I would pull the codes and see what comes up. I actually suspect your TPS is causing the problem. The TPS is telling the computer that you are standing on the gas pedal when you're really not.
There are a couple other possibilites, but that one is probably the most likely.
