Thats a good ? Do you have a spacer to see if the bolts will match up to the water pump? If it will then you just have to make sure that the spacer is long enough to clear everything. Make sure the bolts aren't too long so that they catch the front of the water pump. Make sure everything spins freely before putting the belt back on.

Why do you want to do away with the fan clutch? The fan clutch will make your gas mileage go up because the fan isn't always draging on the motor. The fan is only engaged when the fan is needed. Makes better since to me.

Water pump is the same with or without the clutch. The Ford part number for the spacer is YA168. Rockauto usually has them for under $5... not sure what a dealership would charge.

I'm not a fan [no pun] of doing without the clutch, but if you do go that route spend a few bucks on an aftermarket flex fan. Flex-a-lite makes 15" and 18" nylon fans that will fit the 300 and they're under $20. Big advantage to these is that they weigh almost nothing so don't put any extra load on the water pump bearings.
