Has anyone tried to gut the CAT ?
I'm thinking about taking it off at the triangle connector thingy and gutting it !
Since I don't have access to a welder and none of the muffler shops in the area will do it.
Ur do they make a new pipe that bolts right into and onto that thing. I've thought about flex hose and clamps. How would that work ?
Get a heavy pice of re-bar or solid bar stock, stand the CAT on end and beat the guts/packing out of the other end. You will need to flip the CAT 180 deg and drive the packing out from the other end as well. Just take your time, it will come all come out. Now, “I’m not say-in” that “I” ever did anything like that to my neighbor Richards truck…. “I’m just say-in”, ya know !!! Jeff in NM...OUT
Flex hose sucks. That is , if your talking about the flex hose i'm thinking about, with the thin metal thats kind of got a coil design to it, its not that strong, and when you clamp it, it screws it up.
Get a muffler shop to make a pipe and get rid of the CAT altogether. Most of them have pipe extruders so it should fit right in.
I can't find a shop anywhere that will do it. That's the problem.
Thw flex I'm talking abour ia used on big trucks between the manifold and
stacks. I think it's stainless.
And, ,y idea of gutting it went bye bye cause I tried and will twist the bolts off that connection thingy, I guess they are a one time thing.
i wish i could gut my cat, the dang thing pukes on the carpet almost every day

Yep I'd hate to hear a moanin', groanin', resonating, gutted cat..
So either I wait and find a sop or use the stainless flex.
I'd hate to drive with ear plugs all the time and the puke smells bad.
