kwik air filter mod
I asked this on an earlier post with no reaction, so, a quick question about this mod. Has anyone tried the KN style cone filters? I found some in the Summit catalog with a 4" opening, would they work the same? Also, with the Wix filter, i'm assuming you have to change it at some interval since its paper. Any suggestions? I understand the hang-up with the KN filter and stock box, is there a problem with KN style filters in general?

I had on a MAC reusable large cone filter on my rig, like a K&N, only bigger and I changed it for the Napa filter for fear of dusting my engine, only to find that my under-the-hood turbo noises were a lot quieter, and I did not seem to make as much peak boost, so I put the MAC back on with a large K&N foam prefilter cover that is almost 3/4" thick. I have found that I like this setup better, but that is in part to the fact that I allready had the setup and hated to waste it, however if you don't have one yet, I agree that you should save hundreds over a system and spend about $50 on a great cheap efficient Napa filter! Just my .02!
Wow! Don't pay $50.00 at NAPA . . . I just got mine from www.fleetfilter.com
for $20.00! Their part number starts with a 4, then the NAPA number. (46637)

so what I'm hearing is, $20 from fleetfilter for the Wix, its big enough (looks like it) to outflow or at least equal a KN type washable. Replace when dirty instead of washing, which for me is about every year. One last thing, I would assume with that much better intake airflow, the fuel mileage will increase enough to offset the cost of the filters every year. It just makes me want to get a wicked wheel now and get rid of the flutter too. Where's my tax refund when I need it?

Most of us were able to install the Kwik, 6637, 46637 or a couple of other names without any changes at all. Use the advanced search feature found in the blue bar above, and search for Kwik filter, 6637 filter, or 46637 filter and you should find all the information you need to install your kwik.
