Mine are Bosch singles, can't recall the number from memory. Do remember using some other plug way back when (Champion??) and man, that engine complained mightily until I switched them out. I run Bosch in our Escort-GT and Probe-GT without problems and the other four Fords either still have their OEM's or Autolite. (No, there's no rhyme or reason, its mostly what the kids can afford or what was in stock that particular day.)

I have gone trhough 2 sets of Bosch plugs in less than 25,000 miles. I know its the plugs, because switching to oem resolves the issue. Brand does matter. Also, replace the plugs every 60,000 miles at most. I tried Bosch in my 1990 Mazda B2600i, had the same issues, random missfire, slightly rough idel, and decreased power, even when new. When I switched to NGKs on the Mazda, all these problems dissappeared. However, it is true, wire quality is more important than plugs, and a low quality wire can make any engine run poorly. Autozones highest quality wires are only midgrade aftermarket at best. No one uses them as original equipment, and for good reason. OEM manufacuters want the first set of everything to last through the vehicles warranty. WE also used Autolites on our 2000 Dakota, improved the performance over Champion brand, which we kept useing because it was OEM.

I've used NGK G-power plugs (gapped to .045") and Bosch Premium Opti-core wires on all of my Fords, and all of them work excellent.

Might be worth a try. Ranger loved them, '97 Escort loves them, Aerostar 3.0L likes them so far.

The 3.0l distributor based motors wil be slightly less picky, but the 4.0 and latter 3.0 motors must have double platinum wires. BTW, if your bosch plugs work so well in your 3.0, let me ask you this, can you get 24 mpg highway, and consistently 20mpg city?
